The Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Darius Garland and center Evan Mobley are both set to be sidelined for multiple weeks through injury. The injuries are a significant blow to the Cavs, with the team struggling to find form this season. The team is 13-12 and on a three-game losing streak, sitting in 9th position on the Eastern Conference standings.
Garland fractured his jaw during the Cavs’ 116-107 loss to the Boston Celtics in a collision with Celtics center Kristaps Porzingis. While Garland returned to the game after heading to the locker room for evaluation, it was determined on Friday that he would need to be sidelined after the severity of his injury came to light.
Mobley is scheduled to undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left knee and is set to miss six to eight weeks as a result. He missed four consecutive games due to his knee setback. Averaging 16 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game, Mobley has been key for the Cavs this season, with the team going 1-3 without the center this season.
