The Cleveland Cavaliers’ winning streak in the 2024-25 NBA season continued on Friday night at the expense of the Golden State Warriors.
The Cavs beat the Warriors 136-117 at their Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse to remain perfect in the new season and improve to a 10-0 record. They are only the second team in the past two decades to win their first 10 games, with the Warriors being the other one. Golden State started 24-0 during the 2015-16 campaign and finished with the NBA’s all-time best regular season record of 73-9.
The 2024-25 Cavs are the only remaining undefeated team in the NBA at the moment and just the 15th team in NBA history to have a 10-0 start to the season.
The Warriors were expected to pose a big challenge for the Cavs’ perfect start of the season, entering the matchup with a 7-1 record. However, Cleveland’s high-tempo offense didn’t miss a beat as they got off to a strong start in the first quarter and held a 41-point lead by halftime.
“10-0 is something. It’s kind of a magic number, right?” said Cavs’ head coach Kenny Atkinson. “I was worried about tonight because the Warriors are champions. That surprised me, how ready we were, how hungry we were. 10-0 is really something for our team.”
Guard Darius Garland led the way for the Cavaliers with 27 points and six assists, while big-man Evan Mobley had 23 points, four rebounds, and four assists.
The Warriors, on the other hand, had forward Jonathan Kuminga score 21 points. No other Golden State player scored more than 14, while only two starters finished the game in double digits.
