It turns out that the fourth time was a charm for Carmelo Anthony, who finally notched his first win with the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday night in Chicago.
The Blazers earned a comfortable 117-94 win over the Bulls at the United Center thanks in large part to a big night from Anthony, who scored 25 points and collected 8 rebounds.
It was easily Anthony’s best performance since debuting with his new team last week. The former Knicks star has averaged 16.0 points and 5.3 rebounds in his first four games with his new team, shooting a poor 39.1% from the field.
Perhaps the best news about Anthony’s Monday performance was his shooting accuracy. The 16-year veteran hit 4 of 7 shots from beyond the arc, finishing the night with a 50% mark from the field.
Blazers star point guard Damian Lillard was impressed with the ten-time All-Star’s performance, stating, ” He had it rolling. Our whole bench, we were just excited to get it going. Him being here has been fun, and we all welcome seeing his bounce-back happen and it’s going to be fun to watch.”
Anthony appears to be finding his feet with his new squad, and he’ll look to turn in another good performance on Wednesday night against the Thunder.
