Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz will face Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final of the Barcelona Open on Sunday. Alcaraz, the number one seed in the tournament, defeated Daniel Evans 6-2, 6-2 in Saturday’s semifinal.

Second seed Tsitsipas experienced a closer encounter against semifinal opponent Lorenzo Musetti, eventually outlasting the Italian to win 6-4, 5-7, 6-3.

Alcaraz, who is eyeing his first clay court tournament win of the season, disposed of his opponent after just 1 hour and 20 minutes of play. “How you reach a final is important for your confidence, and I head into tomorrow with a great feeling,” the number one seed confessed. Alcaraz has not dropped a set in his four previous matches.

Having won in Buenos Aires and Indian Wells, Alcaraz is on the hunt for his third ATP trophy this year. Should he emerge triumphant in Barcelona, Alcaraz will have launched a successful title defense for the first time in his career.

As for Tsitsipas, the Greek national will be hoping to win his first title in Barcelona after making the final in both 2018 and 2021, losing both finals to 12-time winner Rafael Nadal. With a victory on Sunday, Tsitsipas will clinch the 10th ATP title of his career.
