The problem that Belgium international forward Eden Hazard has at Real Madrid this season is finally revealed. His manager Carl Ancelotti simply prefers “another player.”

Ancelotti himself admitted this on Tuesday when he was asked by reporters about Hazard’s lack of playing time.

“The problem [Hazard] has right now is he has a coach who prefers another player,” Ancelotti said. “That can happen in a squad like Real Madrid’s. What’s important is the player has the motivation to work to play. He is doing that.”

Ancelotti added that Hazard has “all the characteristics” to be Real’s player and expressed belief that the 30-year-old will start getting more playing time as the season progresses if he continues to show improvements in form.

Hazard made eight appearances for Real in 2021-22 and has collected five starts in all competitions. He is yet to score a goal but managed to contribute an assist season opener against Alaves.

Eden Hazard joined Real Madrid in 2019 from Chelsea in a transfer worth around $115 million. At the time, he was considered one of the world’s best players and supposed to be the leader for the La Liga side in years to come. But things haven’t exactly worked out as planned as Hazard often battled with injuries since arriving in Spain while struggling to make an impact when healthy.
