Real Madrid’s manager Carlo Ancelotti ended the speculations about his future by signing a new contract with the La Liga powerhouse.

Real announced the news on Friday, saying that Ancelotti’s deal now runs through the 2025-26 season. The Italian’s previous contract was set to expire in the summer of 2024.

Ancelotti was previously linked with Brazil’s national team’s head coaching vacancy. The head of the Brazilian football federation, Ednaldo Rodrigues, publicly stated that Ancelotti was the first choice for the job, and many believed that the two sides already had a contract in place.

After the news about his new contract with Real was made official, Ancelotti went on X (former Twitter) to share his excitement.

“Today is a happy day. Real Madrid and I will continue our journey together, looking for new, greater successes,” Ancelotti wrote in a post.

Carlo Ancelotti returned to Real Madrid for his second stint in 2021. He won the La Liga and UEFA Champions League in his first year in charge while winning Copa del Rey last season.

Ancelotti has Real first in the La Liga in 2023-24 with 45 points, tied with second-placed Girona and seven more than their bitter rivals Barcelona. Real is also through to the Round of 16 in UCL, where they are set to face RB Leipzig.
