The Arizona Cardinals rookie wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. has had a rough introduction in the NFL as it gets, and the fourth overall pick in the 2024 draft appears to be well aware of that.
Making his league debut in a 34-28 Week 1 loss to the Bills, Harrison was targeted three times and only made one catch for four yards.
“I mean, obviously it wasn’t great,” Harrison said about his NFL debut during a recent chat with reporters. “Definitely wasn’t what I expected, what I wanted to happen, what the team wanted to happen. Obviously, you wanted to come out with a victory and we didn’t do that.”
Harrison also added that he believes he could have done more to help the team and get the offense going.
“I got to get open and catch the ball. That’s my job as a receiver. That is your job description. That’s what I got to do a better job,” he added.
The game against the Bills was as bad as it gets for Harrison, but there is no doubt that he will get better as he adjusts to the NFL. He previously only played three snaps in the Cardinals’ first preseason game against the New Orleans Saints and didn’t suit up for the remaining two games. The Buckeyes product will get a chance to redeem himself on Sunday when the Cardinals face the LA Rams.
Harrison Jr., who is the son of Hall of Famer and Colts’ legend Marvin Harrison, was a college star at Ohio State. During his three years with the Buckeyes, he made 150 catches for 2,495 yards and 31 touchdowns.
