Detroit Pistons rookie Cade Cunningham made his debut for the Detroit Pistons on Saturday in a 110-103 win over Orlando Magic. The number one overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, Cunningham missed the entire preseason as well as the first four games of the new season after incurring a sprained ankle during training camp.

Following a gradual recovery, the 20-year-old was put to the test through team drills on Friday. While declared fit to play, Cunningham was restricted to 20 to 25 minutes on the court.

Cunningham played 18 minutes during Saturday’s clash, scoring two points and bagging seven rebounds and two assists.

Following his return to action, Cunningham made the following observation: “I think it was good. I feel like coming in, just being able to make some plays off the ball, get some rebounds. I felt like I was solid defensively.”

The player furthermore expressed his desire to prove to himself that he could overcome the challenges of his ankle injury. This was the Pistons’ first win of the new season, losing all four of their previous games.
