After his awkward postgame interaction with Chicago Bears’ rookie quarterback, Caleb Williams became a trending topic on social media, Houston Texans’ signal-caller C.J. Stroud decided to set things straight in a recent chat with reporters.

After the Texans got the 19-13 win on Sunday, Stroud, who was mic’d up, approached Williams for a postgame handshake. Williams, who once again had a poor performance, attempted to walk away immediately, but Stroud pulled him back for a bit of pep-talk.

“Learn from those mistakes. And everything that you got, bro, is in you already, bro. You’re going to be a hell of a player in this league,” Stroud told Williams, who didn’t look in the mood for listening advice.

Addressing the attention that the exchange has generated, Stroud said that he had the best of intentions.

“I was not trying to little bro him or anything. He knows that, too. I have a ton of respect for him,” Stroud said. “I had so many guys coming to me after games last year, and that meant the world to me that those guys even thought about giving me advice … So, I just try to give back to what the game is giving me. So, I wish him the best man. I want him to do amazing in this league. I think he will.”

Williams, on the other hand, didn’t want to talk about the interaction with Stroud when previously asked about it.

“We shook hands at the end of the game. That was about it,” he told reporters.

After a stellar college career, Williams was expected to become the next QB star in the NFL after the Bears took him first overall in the 2024 NFL Draft. But he had a tough time getting accustomed to the pros, completing 56.1% of his passes and throwing for 267 yards, zero touchdowns, and two interceptions in his first two games.
