Bryce James, the youngest son of Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James, will play his college basketball with the Arizona Wildcats.

James confirmed his decision via Instagram, sharing a mock-up photo of himself in a Wildcats’ jersey and writing: “100%commited” in the caption. His father congratulated him via Instagram shortly afterward.

James, who has been regarded as a three-star recruit, most recently played on the Nike EYBL circuit in the summer. There, he averaged 6.9 points and 2.2 rebounds with the Strive for Greatness program. He also appeared on Nike EYBL Peach Jam, playing five games and averaging 5.6 points and 2.8 rebounds.

James reportedly also had offers from Ohio State and Duquesne, and both were appealing in their own regard. Ohio State is close to Akron, Ohio, where his father grew up. Duquesne, on the other hand, is coached by Dru Joyce III, who is LeBron James’ close friend and played with him at St. Vincent–St. Mary High School.

However, Bryce James likely picked Arizona due to its program’s success in recent years. The Wildcats have made it to the NCAA tournament in each of the past three years and reached the Sweet Sixteen phase in 2022 and 2024.

At the moment, most scouts don’t see a path to the pros for James. He is considered a raw prospect who needs to improve his game significantly before even making an impact at college.
