Veteran goalie Tuukka Rask will make one more run at the Stanley Cup trophy with the Boston Bruins. Rask re-joined the franchise on Tuesday, signing a deal until the end of the 2021-22 NHL season.

Rask, who spent his entire NHL career in Boston, saw his contract with the Bruins expire in the summer. Both sides expressed interest in the reunion at the time but waited to see how the 34-year-old would recover from his hip surgery. The player also made it clear that he only wants to play for the Bruins and would retire if that option wasn’t on the table.

Rask penned an AHL tryout contract with Providence Bruins in early January following a successful rehabilitation, intending to build up his form before returning to NHL. However, it appears he showed enough while in AHL, as Boston Bruins came in with a contract offer less than a week later.

According to the team’s official announcement, Rask inked a prorated $1 million contract with the Bruins. Under these terms, the deal will earn him $545,000 for the remainder of 2021-22.

Tuukka Rask is considered a Boston Bruins’ legend and arguably the best goalkeeper in franchise history. He holds the records for most appearances by a Bruins’ goalie with 560 and most wins by a goalie in both the regular season and the playoffs. During his time in Boston, Rask helped the Bruins win Stanley Cup in 2011 while picking up several individual accolades, including Vezina Trophy for the best goalkeeper in NHL in 2014 and two All-Star appearances.

I am a reality TV junkie. My dream since I was a kid was to be on Big Brother, but until then you can catch me binge-watching episodes each summer.
