With Duke Johnson wanting to get out of town, Cleveland Browns are looking to are more depth to their backfield. According to ESPN’s Jordan Raanan, Browns are working out running back Orleans Darkwa at the moment and will decide on contract offer in the coming days.

Darkwa last played with the New York Giants in 2017, when he rushed for 751 yards and five touchdowns. After leaving the Giants, her considered signing with several teams but ended up tearing his Achilles during one of the workouts. This sidelined the 27-year-old for the entire 2018, but he is reportedly healthy now and ready to play this season.

During his NFL career, Darkwa had 246 carries for 1,038 yards and nine touchdowns. He also added 29 receptions for 207 yards.

Browns currently have Nick Chubb, Duke Johnson and Kareem Hunt at the top of their RB core, but Chubb is the only one from the three that will definitely start the season. Johnson asked for a trade request in March, so he might push harder to leave until Cleveland is forced to move him. Hunt, on the other side, is suspended and won’t play until Week 9.

Due to this, Orleans Darkwa landing in Cleveland makes sense for both sides. Browns will have a reliable backup who already showed he could be productive in the NFL, while Darkwa will have more touches that will help him get his career back on track.

Gunner's favorite movies are Pulp Fiction, Iron Man (just the first one), and every James Bond film ever made. He's learning TV and cinema and hoping to always enjoy movies as he does now.
