The Cleveland Browns are currently one of the most disappointing teams in the NFL in the 2024 season. However, that didn’t stop their star defensive end Myles Garrett from making NFL history in a Week 17 loss to the Miami Dolphins.
Garrett, who is the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year, had two sacks on Dolphins’ quarterback Tyler Huntley to get his season total to 14.0 and tie Cincinnati Bengals pass rusher Trey Hendrickson for most in 2024. In doing so, he became the only player in league history to have 14.0 sacks or more in four consecutive seasons.
Garrett entered the league as the Browns’ first overall pick in 2017. After finishing his rookie year with 7.0 sacks, he went on to reach double digits in sacks in each of the following seasons. Last week he reached 100 career sacks, making him the first player to reach the mark before his 29th birthday.
Still, all the individual achievements can’t compensate for the fact that the Browns have had a disastrous campaign.
“At the end of the day, we play for wins,” Garrett shared. “The individual stuff is great. It’s nice, you want to be remembered for all of the above. But cities remember you for wins and bringing championships back home.”
The Browns are currently at the bottom of the AFC North with a 3-13 record, tied for the worst in the league. Their loss against the Dolphins was their fifth in a row.
