The Cleveland Browns kicker Dustin Hopkins is receiving a new deal after his impressive 2023 campaign. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Hopkins and the Browns agreed to a three-year, $15.9 million extension on Monday.
Hopkins was previously set to become a free agent next year and is set to earn $2.8 million this upcoming season.
The extension will now keep Hopkins with the Browns through the 2027 NFL season while making him one of the top five highest-paid kickers in the league. His $5.3 million annual salary now only trails Baltimore Ravens’ Justin Tucker ($6 million), Philadelphia Eagles’ Jake Elliott ($6 million), Indianapolis Colts’ Matt Gay ($5.62 million), and New York Giants’ Graham Gano ($5.5 million).
Dustin Hopkins spent the bulk of his career with the Washington Commanders while also suiting up for the Buffalo Bills and the Los Angeles Chargers. He landed in Cleveland ahead of the 2023 season after the Browns sent a seventh-round pick to the Chargers to acquire him.
With the Browns, Hopkins delivered his best season as a pro. He finished the last season with 33 made field goals out of 36 attempted, setting a new franchise record while also being 24-out-of-26 on extra points. Hopkins also had five consecutive games with a field goal made from 50 yards or more, a new NFL record.
