The Denver Broncos are reportedly working the phones in an attempt to find a taker for their veteran wide receiver Tim Patrick. However, if they fail to do so, the franchise is expected to cut him.

Patrick is reportedly drawing a lot of interest from other NFL teams, but it is unclear whether either of them is willing to give up any draft capital. He is currently on a league minimum contract of $1.125 million for 2024 after reworking his contract earlier in the offseason.

Patrick is a popular figure in the Broncos’ locker room but a crowded wideout room and his recent injury struggles have ended up outweighing the benefits of his veteran presence and leadership.

The Broncos have invested heavily in their wideout corps this offseason, taking Oregon’s Troy Franklin and Utah’s Devaughn Vele in the 2024 NFL Draft while also signing veteran Josh Reynolds in free agency. The trio is expected to stack behind the team’s top receiving options of Courtland Sutton and Marvin Mims Jr..

Tim Patrick entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2017. After spending stints on practice squads with the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers in his rookie year, Patrick signed with the Broncos for the 2018 season.

Patrick proved to be a dependable option for the Broncos and received a more prominent role that saw him post a back-to-back season with 50+ catches, 700+ receiving yards, and at least five touchdowns in 2020 and 2021.

However, Patrick has yet to play a single snap in the NFL since then. He missed the 2022 season with a torn ACL before being kept away from the field due to an Achilles injury in 2023.

He is now believed to be healthy again and might be a great addition to a team in need of a veteran playmaker.
