The Atlanta Braves have decided to reward manager Brian Snitker with a new contract after he led the team to three straight NL East titles.

The Braves announced on Friday that Snitker inked an extension that will keep him with the franchise through the 2023 MLB season. The team will also have an option to add an extra year to his contract for 2024.

Snitker had a chat with reporters after the news broke out and said that getting a new deal “feels good”.

“I’m not one that worries about that kind of thing, honestly,” he added. “If this was going to be my last year or whatever, I would give it everything I’ve got. But it’s nice, obviously, that someone thinks enough of you to extend that kind of package.”

The extension keeps Brian Snitker with the franchise he’s been part of for almost 45 years. Snitker briefly played for the Braves in the minor leagues and then went on to serve at several coaching positions while also handling managerial duties with Atlanta’s affiliated teams.

Snitker became the Atlanta Braves’ manager in 2016, initially taking over the team on an interim basis before being given a full-time job ahead of the 2017 MLB season. He compiled a 353-317 managerial record with the Braves in his five years at the helm and has three trips to playoffs, including a National League Championship Series appearance.
