It looks like Bournemouth striker Jermain Defoe wouldn’t mind making a return to Major League Soccer in the future. Defoe, who previously played for Toronto FC in 2014, recently told ESPN that he would consider a return to MLS and that he enjoyed his short time playing there.

I definitely wouldn’t rule it out because when I was there, I enjoyed it,” – the 36-year-old told ESPN FC. “I enjoyed going to different places, places I’d never been before. But even when I was there, each team we played, I always felt like there were a few players that could probably go on and play at some level in Europe.

Jermain Defoe came to Toronto as a big star, signing a lucrative four-year deal in January 2014. In his first season with the team, Defoe matched the big expectations and scored 12 goals in 19 games in the regular season. Still, despite his early success, he felt unsettled in Canada and soon decided to return to his native England.

I think maybe [I went to the MLS too soon],” – Defoe added. “It just made sense at the time because it was a good deal for both parties.”

After leaving Toronto FC, Jermain Defoe signed a deal with Sunderland and went on to score 34 goals in 87 matches for the club. Since Sunderland was relegated from the English Premier League at the end of 2016-17 season, Defoe decided to join AFC Bournemouth.
