It appears that veteran defenseman Marco Scandella will be able to finally set some roots after playing for three different teams this season. St. Louis Blues announced on Thursday that they have signed Scandella to a four-year extension.

Scandella started the 2019/20 with Buffalo Sabres, where he played 31 games before being traded to Montreal Canadiens in January. The 30-year-old lasted 20 games in Montreal with Canadiens sending him to St. Louis at the trade deadline in exchange for two draft picks (second and fourth round). He combined four goals and six assists for all three teams.

According to the team’s official announcement, Scandella’s new deal is worth $3.275 million annually.

Marco Scandella made his NHL debut with Minnesota Wild, where he spent the first seven years of his professional career and was a significant part of the team that was a playoff regular. In 2017, Wild traded Scandella to Buffalo, where he immediately became the backbone of the team’s defense. Sabres decided to trade him as part of their rebuilding process, and due to fact, he was set to become a free agent next offseason.

Scandella played 580 regular-season NHL games and contributed with 42 goals and 95 assists for a total of 137 points.
