The Buffalo Bills have reportedly locked their standout defensive tackle Ed Oliver to a long-term deal. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Oliver inked a four-year extension that will keep him with the organization through the 2027 season.

Oliver’s extension is reportedly worth $68 million, with $45 million coming his way in guaranteed money. He had one year left on his rookie deal that came with $10.753 million in base salary.

Oliver’s contract ranks him in the top six among defensive tackles in terms of guaranteed money. He would probably get even more money if he hadn’t had an up-and-down 2022 campaign that saw him miss four games due to an injury and record just 2.5 sacks.

Ed Oliver was the ninth overall pick by the Bills in 2019. He has shown flashes of talent and ability to make big plays but is yet to do it on a consistent level. Since entering the league, the Houston product totaled 151 tackles, 14.5 sacks, 11 passes deflected, and four forced fumbles.

By handing Oliver a long-term deal, the Bills have taken care of their DT position for the foreseeable future. Prior to the move, they hadn’t had a single defensive tackle under contract past the 2023 season.
