Linebacker Lorenzo Alexander is staying with Buffalo Bills in 2019. Alexander, who is entering his 15th NFL season, agreed to a one-year extension with the team, deciding to skip his free agency in March. The Bills confirmed the news on Wednesday via their social media.

Lorenzo Alexander joined the Buffalo Bills in 2016 with a reputation of a veteran journeyman who played for five different NFL teams to that point. Bills initially meant to use Alexander in special teams and as a cover in defense, but he ended up providing a lot more.

In the last three seasons, Alexander started 35 games and contributed with 22 sacks and three interceptions for Buffalo while also earning one Pro Bowl appearance. In 2018 season, he played in all 16 games and finished the year with 6.5 sacks (second most on the team, career-high two interceptions and nine passes defensed.

After the season wrapped up, Lorenzo Alexander said that he would want to return to NFL for one more year and that he would want it to be in Buffalo.

“Obviously, I’m invested,” – he told the media at the time. “I’ve been here three years, I’m invested in the community. I’m invested in this team and this organization. I would like to be able to continue to play here and be able to retire here.”

Alexander’s NFL career stats include 414 tackles, 31.0 sacks, 12 forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, and three interceptions.
