Buffalo Bills have seen enough from CB Tre’Davious White in the past three seasons to know they want to keep him with the franchise for years to come. The team confirmed on Wednesday that they have officially exercised the fifth-year option on White’s rookie deal, locking him under contract through 2021.

White had a breakthrough season in 2019, earning Pro Bowl selection and First-Team All-Pro honors. He finished the year with league-leading six interceptions to go with 58 tackles and 1.0 sacks.

By picking up his contract option, the Bills are believed to be setting the terrain for a long-term extension they will probably offer White in the future. Reportedly, White is in line for a record-breaking deal since he is already considered to be one of the best corners in the game at the age of 25.

After an All-American senior year at LSU, Tre’Davious White declared for the 2017 NFL Draft, where he was selected 27th overall by the Bills. White made an immediate impact in his rookie season, earning PFWA All-Rookie Team honors and becoming one of the foundations of Bill’s highly-regarded defense. Since entering the league, he built a reputation of being a lock-down corner capable of shutting down opponent’s best receivers.

White’s career stats include tackles 181 tackles, 1.0 sacks, 43 pass deflections, and 12 interceptions.
