After going through five different head coaches since 2010, Buffalo Bills look like they are finally heading towards stability at the helm. The organization announced on Wednesday that they signed head coach Sean McDermott to a multi-year contract.

While Bills didn’t disclose the terms of the deal, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the agreement will keep McDermott on New Era Field through 2025.

“Sean’s leadership on and off the field has been nothing but genuine and transparent, qualities we appreciate as owners,” said owners Terry and Kim Pegula in a statement. “He is the same great person to us, the players, and everyone across all our organizations.”

Sean McDermott joined the Buffalo Bills in 2017 after previously serving as a defensive coordinator with Carolina Panthers. In his first season as a head coach, McDermott led the Bills to playoffs and ended the franchise’s 16-year postseason drought. He achieved the same in 2019, finishing the past season with a 10-6 record. However, Buffalo lost in the AFC Wild Card game both times.

After the 2020 season, McDermott, who has a 25-23 career record, will be the longest-tenured Bills coach since Marv Levy. Levy was with the Buffalo between 1986 and 1997, leading the franchise to four Super Bowl appearances.
