When it comes to Buffalo Bills starting wide receivers, Kelvin Benjamin is set as team’s No.1 option while most people see second-year WR Zay Jones as the No.2 option. Well, thanks to Jones’ recent off-field issues and knee injury, that might not be the case.

Bills general manager Brandon Beane recently spoke about the 23-year-old in an interview with One Bills Live and made it clear that even when Jones gets back to his full form, he will have to “earn his way” back into the starting lineup.

He’s not just going to necessarily go right to the top of the line,” – Beane told One Bills Live. “He’ll have to earn his way. Part of that will just be just getting his feel. He’s only played with Nathan Peterman. He has not got to play with Josh Allen or AJ yet. So that bond there will just have to form.

Zay Jones played out his college career at East Carolina, where he earned First Team All-American honors in 2016. He declared for the 2017 NFL Draft, where the Bills selected him in the second round with the 37th pick.

Jones managed to start 10 games and play 15 in total during his rookie season but has shown great inconsistency. He managed just 27 receptions for 316 yards and two touchdowns.
