The Buffalo Bills have a legitimate No. 1 wide receiver once again after acquiring five-time Pro Bowler Amari Cooper in a trade with the Cleveland Browns.
In order to land Cooper, the Bills have sent the Browns a third-round pick in 2025 and a seventh-rounder in 2026. They will receive a sixth-round selection in 2025 as part of the deal.
The Bills confirmed the move on social media while also announcing the release of veteran wideout Marquez Valdes-Scantling.
The Bills retooled their wideout corps in the offseason, trading star Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans and letting veteran Gabe Davis walk in free agency. They opted to rely on 2022’s fifth-round pick Khalil Shakir and rookie Keon Coleman to carry their offense, but the move came with mixed results.
In Cooper, the Bills now have a proven top wideout who can elevate their passing game and be a reliable target for superstar quarterback Josh Allen.
Copper is also expected to benefit from a change of scenery. After making 72 catches for a career-high 1,250 yards in 2023, he only managed 24 receptions for 250 yards and two touchdowns in six games this season.
Amari Cooper started his career with the Las Vegas Raiders before suiting up for the Dallas Cowboys and the Browns. He has 691 career catches for 9,736 receiving yards and 62 TDs since entering the league as a fourth overall pick in 2015.
