Portuguese winger Bernardo Silva won’t be leaving Manchester City this summer after all. Despite being at the center of various transfer rumors in recent months, Silva opted to stay at Etihad Stadium and sign an extension with the reigning Premier League champions.

The new deal ties Silva to Man City until the summer of 2026. The 29-year-old player had two years left on his previous deal.

Silva made 55 appearances for City last season, helping them win the Premier Ligue title, UEFA Champions League, and FA Cup. He scored seven goals while adding eight assists.

“I’ve had six incredible years at Manchester City, and I’m delighted to extend my time here,” Bernardo said after the news became official. “Winning the Treble last season was extremely special, and it’s exciting to be part of a squad where there is such a hunger and passion.”

Despite being considered an important player in manager Pep Guardiola’s system, Bernardo Silva seemed close to leaving the club this summer. He was linked with Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain while also attracting interest from Saudi Arabia. However, once City saw Riyad Mahrez leave the club, they made an effort to keep Silva at all costs.

Manchester City is having a busy offseason, trying to strengthen their squad for another Premier League title run. They already signed midfielder Mateo Kovacic and defender Josko Gvardiol while being close to finalizing a transfer for winger Jeremy Doku.

Gunner's favorite movies are Pulp Fiction, Iron Man (just the first one), and every James Bond film ever made. He's learning TV and cinema and hoping to always enjoy movies as he does now.
