Cincinnati Bengals decided to take care of their receiving core this offseason. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported on Tuesday that Bengals extended wide receiver Tyler Boyd while Pro Bowler A.J. Green is expected to get a new deal as well.

According to Pelissero, Boyd, who is entering the final year of his rookie deal, signed a four-year contract extension which will pay him $43 million. This new contract comes after Boyd had a breakthrough season in 2018 in which he contributed with 76 receptions for 1,028 yards and seven touchdowns.

While Bengals have not officially confirmed the deal, team’s director of player personnel Duke Tobin confirmed that the organization looks to pay both Boyd and Green.

“We want to get them both done,” – said Tobin on Tuesday.

Cincinnati’s new head coach Zac Taylor also didn’t want to break the news about Tyler Boyd’s new deal but did use the opportunity to praise him.

“I think he’s a great example of the type of player we have on this team,” – Taylor told reporters. “He just put his head down and went to work. I really liked his approach and you like to reward guys (with) that approach. It sets an example for other guys on this team.”

Boyd entered the league as a second-round pick in 2016, and struggled to make an impact in his first two years in NFL. However, following Green’s injury struggles last year, he stepped up and showed that he is a viable second option, which ultimately prompted Bengals to secure him long term.

Ben loves sports so much but prefers watching other people do it. He prefers not to share what teams he's supporting but he is willing to admit that Lebron James is, in fact, the king.
