Philadelphia Eagles finally got around to address their need for another proven running back. The team announced on Thursday that they have acquired RB Jordan Howard from the Chicago Bears in exchange for a sixth-round pick in 2020 NFL Draft.

According to NFL Network, the compensation might turn into a fifth-rounder if certain conditions are met.

Eagles confirmed the deal through their official social media.

Jordan Howard broke into the league in 2016 as the 150th pick in the draft and ended up having a stellar rookie year in which he rushed for 1,313 yards and six touchdowns while earning Pro Bowl appearance and PFWA All-Rookie Team honors. In his sophomore season, he once again rushed over 1,000 yards while adding nine touchdowns.

However, Howard’s production slipped in 2018 under new coach Matt Nagy, and he ended up averaging only 3.7 yards per carry which was enough for 935 yards and nine touchdowns. This, combined with the emergence of Tarik Cohen, who fits better in Nagy’s plans, made him expendable and available for trade.

Even though he might not be able to replicate the success from his rookie year, Jordan Howard represents a great catch for Philadelphia Eagles. They didn’t only address one of their main concerns but have also got a talented player for cheap as the 24-year-old is still on his rookie year and is owed only $2 million in 2019.
