Another week, another running back is getting a new deal. This time, it was Tarik Cohen’s turn, who inked a three-year extension that will keep him with Chicago Bears through the 2023 season.

Bears confirmed the news over the weekend.

According to NFL Network, Cohen’s new deal is worth $17.25 million and brings him $5.75 million per year. Based on incentives, however, the 25-year-old running back could increase his earnings by up to $18.25 million. He was in the final year of his deal with Chicago.

Since entering the NFL as a fourth-round pick in 2017, Tarik Cohen established himself as a valuable multi-purpose player for the Bears. Cohen almost equally participates in the passing and rushing game while he also handled the returning duties for the team.

In 48 games he played in the league so far, Cohen racked up 4,245 all-purpose yards and 15 touchdowns.

“We’re extremely excited about being able to extend Tarik,” said Bears’ general manager Ryan Pace. “He’s a versatile player that has a big impact on offense and special teams. We love his character, and he’s been a spark plug for our team since we drafted him. Tarik and I both feel he’s a young, ascending player with a lot of high-level years left in this league, and we are glad he will be with us in the years to come.”
