The Chicago Bears reportedly signed their kicker Cairo Santos to a new deal. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Santos received a four-year extension that ties him to the franchise through the 2027 NFL season.

Santos’ deal is worth $16 million and comes with $9.5 million in guaranteed money. The total value of the deal places him outside the Top 10 highest-paid kickers in the league but ranks fifth in terms of guarantees.

Santos entered the league in 2014 with the Kansas City Chiefs and has since spent time with the Los Angeles Rams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the Tennessee Titans. He joined the Bears ahead of the 2020 season and had his most productive stretch as a pro since then.

The 32-year-old Brazil native is enjoying a career year in 2023, making 27 field goals out of 29 attempts and converting 92.3% of his extra points. He was also successful on all of his six FG attempts from 50 yards or more.

Santos was especially great in November when he made three 50+ yard field goals and delivered a game-winner in a 10-12 win over the Minnesota Vikings. This earned him the recognition of being the NFC’s Special Teams Player of the Month.
