Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski is no stranger to spectacular performances or fast hat tricks. We had a chance to witness both on Tuesday night when Lewandowski scored an 11-minute hat-trick to propel his team to a dominant 7-1 win over RB Salzburg in UEFA Champions League.

Lewandowski first got on the score sheet in the 12th minute, converting a penalty kick. Bayern was awarded another spot-kick in the 21st minute, which the Polish striker bagged home again. Less than two minutes later, Lewandowski picked up a deflection in the penalty area and netted his third goal of the game.

According to Bayern Munich’s official social media, Lewandowski scoring his third goal in the 23rd minute was the earliest a player managed to complete a hat-trick in UCL history. This 11-minute hat-trick is also the quickest hat trick ever scored in the knockout phases of the competition. The quickest overall was Bafetimbi Gomis’s eight-minute hat-trick in Lyon’s 7-1 win over Dinamo Zagreb in 2011.

The hat-trick against Salzburg gave Robert Lewandowski 42 goals in all competitions in 2021-22. This means that he has now scored 40+ goals in each of the past seven seasons. Considering that there is still a lot of soccer left to be played if Lewandowski continues to play like this, he could have a chance to reach his highest total of 55 goals from the 2019/20 campaign.

Gunner's favorite movies are Pulp Fiction, Iron Man (just the first one), and every James Bond film ever made. He's learning TV and cinema and hoping to always enjoy movies as he does now.
