Bayern Munich’s veteran forward Thomas Muller is ready to take up one more challenge before he ends his already successful career. According to German media outlet Bild, Muller is open to coming to the United States and playing in MLS.
Muller, who turned 35 in September, is reportedly aware that his professional career is coming to an end. Although he always envisioned being a one-club player, he still believes he can play at a high level. But with his playing time dwindling at the Bundesliga powerhouse, he is now considering a move to MLS before calling it quits.
Muller is also weighing his retirement options. He already has offers to venture into broadcasting while having options to work as a coach or an ambassador for Bayern and Germany’s national team.
In 12 games he played in all competitions this season, Muller scored three goals and added three assists. However, he only made four starts, including just two in the Bundesliga, with Bayern’s new head coach, Vincent Kompany, viewing him as an impact sub.
Thomas Muller joined Bayern Munich’s academy in 2000 at the age of 11. After playing for the club’s youth and reserve teams, he made his professional debut in 2008. Since then, Muller has played 719 games for Bayern in all competitions, scoring 245 goals alongside 271 assists. He won a total of 33 trophies, including 12 Bundesliga titles and three UEFA Champions Leagues.
