Spanish international Javi Martinez might be on the move this summer. According to Bayern Munich’s chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, the club is willing to part ways with Martinez in case a “suitable offer” comes their way.

Despite being one of Bayern’s key players in past years, Martinez hasn’t played much this season. This was especially the case when new head coach Hansi Flick took over the club and ended up finishing the 2019/20 with just 16 games in Bundesliga.

Martinez, who has one year left on his deal, became unhappy with his status in the club, so Bayern is willing to let him leave somewhere where he would play.

“We know that he would like to leave the club with a suitable offer,” Rummenigge told German media outlet AZ. “We wouldn’t put any obstacles in his way because he was always a good player and a reliable, serious person. We will always try to find a solution that suits the player.”

Back in June, Martinez told Spanish media that he isn’t pushing for Bayern exit but is willing to consider his options. He mentioned at the time that he wouldn’t mind playing in the United States or Australia, while a return to Athletic Bilbao is also on the cards.

Javi Martinez spent six seasons in Bilbao before heading to Bayern Munich in a transfer worth around $50 million. Since then, Martinez made 238 appearances for German giants helping the club win 19 trophies including eight Bundesliga titles and one UEFA Champions League.
