After being rejected by a number of managers in recent months, Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are now attempting to keep their current head coach, Thomas Tuchel, with the club past this summer.

Tuchel and Bayern agreed in February to go their separate ways following the 2023-24 season. Since then, the German club has been trying to find his replacement, but this proved to be much more complicated than they believed. The likes of Xabi Alonso, Ralf Rangnick, and Julian Nagelsmann all elected to stay at their current jobs rather than take over Bayern.

It is believed that Tuchel would be open to extending his stay with Bayern in part because he doesn’t believe he will get the job at Manchester United if it becomes available. He was previously considered the leading candidate to replace Erik Ten Hag at Old Trafford but has now reportedly received signals that this isn’t the case.

However, if Tuchel elects to stay with Bayern Munich, he expects to receive a new contract and reassurance that he won’t be replaced next year when Jurgen Klopp or Alonso become available.

Thomas Tuchel was appointed as Bayern’s head coach midway through the 2022-23 season and led the club to a Bundesliga title. However, the 2023-24 campaign proved to be much more challenging as they finished second and snapped their streak of 11 consecutive national league titles. They did, however, have a positive performance in the UEFA Champions League, reaching the semifinals.
