Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are the first teams to secure their spots in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals. Bayern beat Lazio while Paris Saint-Germain went through at the expense of Real Sociedad.

Bayern was in a tough position entering the second leg of their Round of 16 match against Lazio on Tuesday night. They lost the first leg 1-0, and considering they have been in poor form in recent weeks, many believed they would have a hard time against a resilient Seria A side.

Instead, Bayern delivered one of their best performances of the season. Harry Kane scored two goals while veteran Thomas Muller added one for a comfy 3-0 win at their Allianz Arena.

Paris Saint-Germain, on the other hand, did just enough to keep their advantage over Real Sociedad after getting a 2-0 win in the first game. PSG also came on top in the away rematch thanks to two goals from Kylian Mbappe, while the La Liga side managed to get a consolation goal through Miklel Merino in the final minutes of regulation. Curiously, this was PSG’s first win away from home in UCL in the 2023-24 season.

On Wednesday, Real Madrid plays RB Leipzig, while Manchester City faces FC Copenhagen for two more UCL quarter-finals spots. Four more spots will be up for grabs next week after Porto vs. Arsenal, Barcelona vs. Napoli, Borussia Dortmund vs. PSV, and Inter Milan vs. Atletico Madrid matchups wrap up.
