Barcelona and Bayern have started negotiations over the Brazilian winger Philippe Coutinho for a potential loan deal at the end of the summer transfer period. With the arrival of Antoine Griezmann, Coutinho has lost his starting line-up position due to his lack of good games this past season. He arrived from Liverpool for a fee of $145 million.

Coutinho was announced as a major signing for Barcelona last season, only to score 13 goals in 51 caps, losing his starting position at the end of the previous season to Ousmane Dembele. He has been connected to a player swap between Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain for Neymar but since the transfer window has been closed in the Premier League, his move to Arsenal has been called off.

After signing Ivan Perisic from Inter, Bayern is focused to get one more major signing before the start of the Bundesliga next week and their attention is turned towards Coutinho. He is supposed to arrive on a loan deal until the end of the 2019-20 season with a buy-out option after the contract ends. The only problem that might occur is that Bayern has to pay Philippe the same amount that he receives in Barcelona – $11 million per season.
