Despite being linked with a move to Barcelona for the better part of the summer, Brazilian star forward Neymar remained with Paris Saint-Germain. As it turns out, it wasn’t because Barca didn’t try hard enough.

Barcelona’s president Josep Maria Bartomeu recently discussed the club’s failed attempt to sign Neymar with BarcaTV, and said that they did “everything possible” to make a deal with PSG.

“We did everything possible to sign Neymar.” – said Bartomeu.

Bartomeu also denied reports that the club offered Ousmane Dembele or Ivan Rakitic as part of the deal, while also revealing Barca’s final offer for Neymar.

“We did talk about exchanges but all the names were given by PSG.” – he added. “Without an exchange of players, the offer was to loan Neymar for a year with a mandatory purchase option at the end of the season.”

With transfer window being closed now, it is clear that Neymar won’t be going anywhere, at least not until January. The Brazilian is reportedly unhappy in Paris and doesn’t want to play for PSG anymore, so it will be interesting to see how this situation plays out.

Neymar joined PSG in 2017 for a record-breaking sum of $247 million. Since then he played 37 games in Ligue 1 with the club, scoring 34 goals and dishing 20 assists.
