Things are beginning to spiral out of control for FC Barcelona in La Liga, and their 2-1 loss at the hands of the newly-promoted Cadiz club on Saturday night only served to strengthen that narrative.

Barcelona, a heavy favorite to win the match, was unable to create much offense and committed a couple of defensive miscues that condemned them to yet another loss.

Cadiz took the lead early on their home ground after a poor attempted clearance on a corner kick by Oscar Migueza led to an easy goal for Cadiz striker Alvaro Gimenez in the ninth minute.

The Cules were able to knot up the score in the second half after a Jordi Alba strike was deflected and knocked into the Cadiz net by Pedro Alcala in the 57th minute.

However, despite the Blaugrana attempts to go ahead and stay somewhat on pace in La Liga, it was yet another silly error that led to them losing a crucial match.

Just six minutes later, a poor pass by Barca keeper Marc Andre ter Stegen led to an error by Clement Lenglet. As a result, substitute striker Alvaro Negredo beat the German keeper to give his team a 2-1 lead that they would not relinquish.

The loss leaves Barcelona in 7th place in La Liga, 12 points behind current leaders Atletico Madrid.

The Blaugrana will look to rebound in a Champions League group stage match against Juventus this week before hosting Levante in La Liga action next weekend.
