Barcelona still hasn’t resolved the contractual situation of its star midfielder Gavi, and that has put other European clubs on notice. According to Spanish media, the Spanish international has already been approached by Premier League’s Chelsea and Bundesliga’s Bayern Munich, with both teams wanting to sign him in the summer.

Back in March, La Liga officials nullified Gavi’s professional contract with Barca due to the club’s financial problems and reverted him to youth-team status. As a result, the teenager can become a free agent in the summer, and any team can sign him without paying a transfer fee.

Chelsea reportedly held a meeting with the player’s representatives several weeks ago and wants to meet again in an attempt to convince Gavi to move to Premier League. The London club even mentioned the possibility of making him the league’s highest-paid player as part of their pitch.

Bayern Munich, on the other hand, got in touch with Gavi’s agent and informed him that they are willing to make a strong offer in case the player wanted to leave Barcelona.

Meanwhile, Barcelona’s manager Xavi made a public plea to Gavi recently in hopes he will remain at Camp Nou.

“I can’t speak for others, but I don’t think he would be as happy as he is here at any other club,” Xavi said. “He has it all here. We value him, he starts every week, he’s decisive for the team … his future is here. He would not be as happy anywhere else.”

Gavi played 40 games for Barcelona in all competitions this season, scoring two goals and contributing six assists.
