According to Fox Sports’ Jordan Schultz, the Packers have engaged in talks with the Steelers about Pickens and are “serious” in their interest. Pittsburgh, on the other hand, has been open to calls about the 2022 second-round pick.
Schultz adds that Pickens is “more available than people think” and that several other teams are considering making a move.
Pickens emerged as the Steelers’ top wideout in recent seasons but there are plenty of reasons why the franchise might be keen on letting him go. The most obvious reason is that they are not ready to pay him at the top of the market after they acquired Pro Bowler DK Metcalf earlier in the offseason and signed him to a lucrative extension.
Additionally, Pickens showed flashes of great talent but has been inconsistent at times and drew criticism for his behavior on the field.
The Packers likely believe that Pickens can thrive and reach his full potential with a change of scenery. He would become a part of one of the NFL’s youngest teams and have a stable quarterback situation unlike the Steelers’ veteran-driven roster and questions surrounding the signal-caller position.
Since entering the league, Pickens caught 174 passes for 2,841 yards and 12 touchdowns.

]]>The Denver Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokic will average a triple-double in the 2024-25 NBA season, becoming the third player in NBA history to achieve this feat.
Jokic secured the triple-double average for the season with his fourth assist in the Nuggets’ 117-109 win over the Memphis Grizzlies. At that point, the Serbian center reached the mark of 700 assists in 69 games, meaning that he will average at least 10.0 assists even if he doesn’t get a single one in the regular season finale.
Fittingly, Jokic finished the game with a triple-double, scoring 26 points to go with 16 rebounds and 13 assists. He is now averaging 29.8 points, 12.8 rebounds, and 10.3 assists for the season.
Before Jokic, only Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson and his teammate Russell Westbrook averaged a triple-double for a season. Robertson did it in 1961-62, while Westbrook had four such seasons, with the last one coming in 2020-21.
“It’s nice. I didn’t do that before. I don’t know what to say. It’s good, ” said Jokic after the Grizzlies game.
On the other hand, Nuggets’ interim head coach David Adelman championed for Jokic to win his fourth MVP award.
“If he doesn’t win the MVP, it’s the greatest season of all time not to win the MVP,” Adelman said.
It remains to be seen whether Jokic’s historic season equates to another MVP win. Despite his achievement, he is currently seen as an underdog in the race with Oklahoma City Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander being the favorite.

Durant got midway through the third quarter after stepping on Jabari Smith Jr.’s foot and rolling his ankle when attempting to drive to the basket. He was unable to get on his own and immediately headed to the locker room before being ruled out of the game.
Speaking with reporters at a post-match presser, the Suns’ head coach Mike Budenholzer said that Durant is set to get an MRI and will miss Tuesday’s contest against the Milwaukee Bucks.
Durant’s absence from the floor might extend past the Bucks’ game, depending on the MRI results.A Grade 1 sprain would rule him out for one to two weeks, while a Grade 2 sprain would likely end his season.
This comes at the worst possible moment for the Suns. The team is trying to salvage their season and secure at least a spot in the Play-In tournament. With seven games remaining in 2024-25, the Suns are sitting at No. 11 with a 35-49 record and trail 1.5 games behind the Sacramento Kings, who hold the last Play-In spot.
Despite Phoenix’s struggles, Durant played at a high level this season. He has been averaging 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.2 assists while shooting 43% from beyond the arc.

]]>The New England Patriots are close to addressing one of their biggest problems in recent seasons: lack of star power in the wide receiver position. According to Chad Graff of The Athletic, the Pats are hosting free agent All-Pro receiver Stefon Diggs for a visit.
The Pats have struggled to land a game-changer at the WR position in recent years, despite making attempts to land the likes of Brandon Aiyuk and Tee Higgins. But if they manage to land a proven playmaker in Diggs, that could soon be forgotten.
Graff points out that the Pats and Diggs are yet to finalize a contract agreement. However, if the visit goes as planned, that would be just a matter of time.
Stefon Diggs would immediately slot into the No. 1 wide receiver role with the Patriots and the main target for the team’s talented quarterback Drake Maye. This is likely why Diggs is attracted to New England, as a high number of targets would allow him to rebuild his value after a down year in 2024.
Diggs is coming off his least-productive season as a pro, although injuries played a significant part in that. He was limited to just eight games, catching 47 passes for 496 yards and three touchdowns as a member of the Houston Texans.
Prior to suiting up for the Texans, Diggs also played with the Minnesota Vikings and the Buffalo Bills. He has 857 career receptions for 1,0491 yards and 70 TDs while receiving four Pro Bowl nods and being named First-team All-Pro in 2020.

]]>The Las Vegas Raiders addressed their need for a starting quarterback by making a trade with the Seattle Seahawks that landed them veteran signal-caller Geno Smith.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Raiders will send a third-round pick (No. 92) in the 2025 NFL Draft to the Seahawks in exchange for Smith. It is the pick that Las Vegas received when it sent star wideout Davante Adams to the New York Jets last season.
After seeing below-average play from their quarterbacks in 2024, the Raiders were expected to either draft a quarterback or pursue free-agent options. Instead, the franchise opted to reunite Smith with head coach Pete Carroll.
Carroll brought Geno Smith as a backup in Seattle in 2019 and then gave him an opportunity to start after the team moved on from Russell Wilson ahead of the 2022 season. Smith responded with a Pro Bowl campaign that also saw him win the NFL Comeback Player of the Year award.
Smith just finished his most productive season as a pro, leading the Seahawks to a 10-7 record while completing 70.4% of his passes and throwing for 4,320 yards and 21 touchdowns. However, that was still not enough for the franchise to give him a new contract, which caused friction between the two sides.
Reportedly, the Raiders are already working on a new deal for Smith that will give him a salary between $40 million and $50 million annually.
The Seahawks, on the other hand, will likely find their new starting quarterback in free agency and are expected to make a run for Sam Darnold.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Popovich isn’t expected to return to coaching this season. Popovich suffered a “mild stroke” in November and has been away from the team since.
Reportedly, Popovich is doing well in his recovery but his NBA future is uncertain.
The news about Popovich comes just days after San Antonio shut down their franchise star Victor Wembanyama for the remainder of the campaign. Wembanyama, who earned his first All-Star nod this season, is dealing with a right shoulder injury.
The Spurs turned to assistant Mitch Johnson as interim head coach in Popovich’s absence and he guided the team to a 21-27 record since. The Spurs went 3-7 in their last 10 games and currently find themselves in 12th place in the Western Conference with a 24-31 record.
Gregg Popovich initially joined the Spurs in 1988 as an assistant, remaining with the franchise until 1992 before joining the Golden State Warriors to work under Don Nelson. Popovich returned to the Spurs two years later as general manager and installed himself as the head coach midway through the 1996–97 campaign.
Since then, Popovich has become the NBA’s all-time leader in wins with 1,390 victories in the regular season. He led the Spurs to five NBA titles and one more NBA Finals appearance.

The 2008 US Olympic Men’s Basketball Team, which Anthony and Howard were part of, is also under consideration. This team won the gold medal at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China, following a disappointing stretch that saw USA Basketball miss out on medals at two consecutive World Cups and win bronze at the 2004 Olympics.
The list is joined by women’s basketball legendary players Jennifer Azzi, Sue Bird, Sylvia Fowles, Maya Moore, and Molly Bolin.
Five-time All-Star Marques Johnson and New Jersey Nets legend Buck Williams are also among the 17 finalists alongside coaches Billy Donovan, Mark Few, Jerry Welsh, and Dusan Ivkovic.
Anthony and Howard are widely expected to get into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in their first year of eligibility.
Anthony is considered one of the best scorers in NBA history, being ranked 10th on the league’s all-time list. He suited up for six different franchises, including the Denver Nuggets and New York Knicks, and was named into the All-Star team 10 times while earning an NBA scoring title in 2013.
Howard, who played for seven teams over the course of his 18 seasons in the NBA, has eight All-Star nods, five All-NBA First Team selections, and was three-time Defensive Player of the Year. He won the NBA title with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020.

]]>The Philadelphia Eagles are champions once again. Carried by efficient offense and disrupting defense, the Eagles dominated the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX en route to a 40-22 win.
It was the second Super Bowl win for the Eagles and the first one since 2018. The Chiefs, on the other hand, failed to become the first team in NFL history to get a three-peat.
After each team punted on their respective opening plays, the Eagles marched 69 yards down the field and scored the first touchdown of the game. The opening score came with their signature “Tush Push” play that once again proved unstoppable.
The Eagles just continued to put points on the board while frustrating Chiefs’ superstar Patrick Mahomes on the defensive end. Mahomes was intercepted twice in the first half and it resulted in Philly touchdowns on both occasions including Cooper DeJean’s pick-six.
The third quarter brought more of the same. The Eagles didn’t take their foot off the gas, getting a 34-0 lead late in the third quarter. Kansas City finally managed to get some points after that, but the deficit proved to be too much to overcome even for the defending champions.
“This is the ultimate team game. You can’t be great without the greatness of others. Great performance by everybody — offense, defense, special teams,” Eagles’ head coach Nick Sirianni said after the game. “We didn’t really ever care what anyone thought about how we won, or their opinions. All we want to do is win.”
Eagles’ quarterback Jalen Hurts received the Super Bowl MVP honors after completing 17 out of his 22 pass attempts and throwing for 221 yards and two touchdowns. Hurts also rushed for 72 yards on 11 carries and had a TD on the ground.

]]>The Sacramento Kings are reportedly open to trading their All-Star point guard De’Aaron Fox. The Kings already started fielding calls from interested teams and a deal might come together before the NBA trade deadline in early February.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, who broke the news, Fox is expected to have a number of suitors but has a preferred destination in mind. However, his camp is currently unwilling to share details about the player’s intention.
It might come as a surprise that the Kings are willing to trade away their franchise cornerstone, but the move actually makes sense for the franchise. Fox has one year left on his contract after the 2024-25 season and has rejected Sacramento’s extension offers so far. By moving him now, the Kings can maximize the return and avoid seeing him walk out as a free agent.
Fox entered the NBA in 2017 as a fifth overall pick in the NBA Draft. After a mixed rookie season, Fox emerged as the team’s best player and improved in each following year. He earned his first All-Star nod in 2023 while also being selected to the All-NBA third team.
Fox is averaging 25.2 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 6.2 assists in 2024-25. He has career averages of 21.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 6.1 assists while fourth in all-time points scored for the Kings.
Trading Fox would bring another major change to the Kings this season. The franchise previously moved on from head coach Mike Brown after a shaky start of the season and replaced him with assistant Doug Christie on an interim basis. Since Christie took over, the Kings went 11-4 and currently sit at No. 10 in the Western Conference standings with a 24-22 record.

Suzuki is the ten-time All-Star, who spent the majority of his MLB career with the Seattle Mariners, and he missed being elected unanimously by just one vote. He’s definitely the biggest star of the class of 2025 and the first Japanese-born player elected to Cooperstown.
“I don’t think anybody in this whole world thought that I’d be a Hall of Famer. As a baseball player, this is the highest honor you can achieve,” he said in a statement following the announcement.
CC Sabathia and Billy Wagner also made the cut, while Carlos Beltrán and Andruw Jones came up a few votes shy of election. CC Sabathia is a six-time All-Star, who played 19 seasons in MLB and won a World Series ring in 2009 with the New York Yankees. As for Billy Wagner, he gained entry to the Hall of Fame in his tenth and final year of eligibility, after pitching for five teams over 16 seasons in MLB.
