Austin FC’s striker Gyasi Zardes certified his status as an MLS legend over the weekend by scoring his 100th goal in a 2-1 loss to Houston Dynamo.

Zardes is now only the 13th player in MLS history to reach the century mark in goals.

Speaking at MLS 360 after the game, Zardes said it was his dream to reach 100 goals and credited his teammates for helping him get there.

“It’s huge, man. It’s something I dreamed about ever since I went pro, and just to see the day that I hit 100 goals, man, like you. I’ve been watching forwards for many years in this league, and to see myself join the 100 club, it’s a blessing,” Zardes said. “It’s a huge honor. But I always give credit to my teammates, man, because they help provide the service for us strikers, you know?”

Zardes signed with Austin FC on a three-year deal in the offseason and has been on a roll since the 2023 campaign started. He scored eight goals in 14 games while also having one assist.

Zardes previously played with LA Galaxy, Columbus Crew, and Colorado Rapids. He was named an MLS All-Star in 2015 and won MLS Comeback Player of the Year in 2018.

Gunner's favorite movies are Pulp Fiction, Iron Man (just the first one), and every James Bond film ever made. He's learning TV and cinema and hoping to always enjoy movies as he does now.
