La Liga power house Atlético Madrid will face the MLS All-Stars at the upcoming 2019 MLS All-Star Game in Orlando according to several media outlets including Sports Illustrated and ESPN. Although the date for the game has not been set yet, it is expected to take place in late July or early August.
Atlético Madrid will join other big European clubs who faced MLS All-Stars in the past including Real Madrid, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich.
The 2018 All-Star Game, played on Atlanta United’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium, saw MLS All-Stars facing Juventus in a tough match that ended with a 1-1 draw in the regulation time. Seria A giants, however, managed to get the job done on penalties.
Atletico Madrid is one of the best Spanish clubs in the recent decade and currently features some of soccer’s biggest stars including Antoine Griezmann, Jan Oblak, Diego Costa, Thomas Lemar, and Koke. The club currently finds itself at the second place in Bundesliga, trailing eight points behind Barcelona at the first place.
