After eliminating Liverpool in the Round of 16 of this year’s Champions League action, it appears that Atletico Madrid are interested in acquiring the services of one of the Reds’ top players.

The Colchoneros reportedly have their eyes set on midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, a move that could be made in conjunction with a swap for current Atletico midfielder Thomas Partey.

Partey, a defensive-minded midfielder that would help to shore up the Reds’ defense, has scored 3 goals across all competitions this season. Despite seeing more sparing playing time, Oxlade-Chamberlain has chipped in 7 goals this season, including 3 in Champions League play.

Partey, a Ghana international, has been linked with a move to the Premier League for the past several months. While Arsenal has reportedly been interesting in acquiring his services, if Liverpool are keen to this potential swap move, it could mean that he could head to this season’s presumptive champions.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has played for Liverpool since singing for the Reds on a $40 million transfer fee in August of 2017. The England international has spent his entire career in his home country after debuting with Southampton in 2010.

At the end of the day, if Liverpool and Atletico are both looking for some new blood in their midfield, this deal could be beneficial for both sides moving forward.
