The Atlanta Falcons have fired both head coach Dan Quinn and general manager Thomas Dimitroff after an 0-5 start to the 2020 season.

The Falcons’ latest loss was a 23-16 defeat to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

Falcons owner Arther Blank released a statement saying that while he has “deep love, admiration, and respect” for Quinn and Dimitroff, “the last 3-plus seasons have fallen short” of Blank’s commitment to Atlanta and the fans.

The team is expected to announce who the interim head coach will be this week. Many insiders believe that Falcons defense coordinator Raheem Morris will get the job.

As for who will be in charge of day-to-day football operations with Dimitroff gone, sources say that Falcons President Rich McKay will assume those responsibilities.

Many were surprised that Quinn wasn’t fired earlier in the season after the Falcons blew 20- and 16-point leads in Week 2 and 3.

Unfortunately for Quinn, blowing big leads will be what he will be remembered for, especially the 28-3 lead that the Falcons blew to the New England Patriots in the second half of Super Bowl LI, which continues to haunt Quinn, quarterback Matt Ryan, and the entire franchise.
