Former World No. 1 tennis player Ash Barty will make a brief return to tennis this summer. Barty is scheduled to play at Wimbledon’s invitational doubles event, which features retired players.

Barty will team up with her former doubles partner Casey Dellacqua for the event. The pair reached four Grand Slam finals and won the US Open doubles title in 2018.

Dellacqua also confirmed the news about reuniting with Barty during a recent chat with The AO Show Weekly.

“What an opportunity to be able to play with my best mate, to be honest with you,” said Dellacqua. “We’re just going to have a great time and enjoy being back together on a tennis court, which we have loved to do our whole life.”

Ash Barty was at one point considered one of the most dominant female tennis players in the world after achieving the No. 1 ranking in 2019 and winning three different Grand Slam titles – Australian Open, French Open, and Wimbledon – between 2019 and 2022.

However, shortly after winning the Australian Open in 2022, Barty decided to retire from professional tennis at the age of 26. At the time, Barty said that she lost her motivation to keep pursuing greatness.

Since her retirement, Barty has taken a role as “chief of inspiration” with Australian telecommunications company Optus and started playing at golf tournaments.

Gunner's favorite movies are Pulp Fiction, Iron Man (just the first one), and every James Bond film ever made. He's learning TV and cinema and hoping to always enjoy movies as he does now.
