Uruguayan international Lucas Torreira is on the verge of completing a move to Atletico Madrid.
The player has been in talks with the Spanish side for a couple of weeks now and there is a complete agreement between the player and Atletico Madrid.
On Thursday morning, a deal was agreed between the two clubs, Arsenal and Atletico Madrid. This will come as good news to Torreira who made it clear that he was unsettled in England and wanted a move. His agent told Italian outlet Calciomercato: “He is no longer at ease and we hope that things can change.”
The deal is an initial loan deal for one year but if all goes well for Torreira, Atletico Madrid will have the option to make a permanent move next year.
Since Mikel Arteta’s appointment at Arsenal back in December 2019, Torreira has struggled for game time, with Arteta preferring both Granit Xhaka and Dani Ceballos over the Uruguayan.
Torreira is believed to be excited at the prospect of a move to Spain and competing in the UEFA Champions League for Atletico Madrid. He is yet to appear in the UEFA Champions League and many players believe that playing in the tournament is one of the highlights of their careers.
