Arsenal Close the Deal with Man City for Gabriel Jesus

Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus will wear an Arsenal jersey next season. According to multiple reports, the London club agreed to pay $55 million to Manchester City to bring Jesus to Emirates Stadium. The transfer might end up being worth north of $75 million with add-ons included.

Arsenal is expected to make the news official in the coming days after all the paperwork is handled and Jesus undergoes medical. The 25-year-old is expected to ink a five-year contract.

Man City was reluctant to sell Jesus but recognized that they couldn’t do much to keep him. Jesus wanted more playing time, something that seemed unlikely with the arrival of Erling Haaland. Also, he only had one year left on his contract, and the reigning Premier League champions had to pull the trigger if they didn’t want him to walk away for free next summer.

On the other hand, Arsenal will welcome Jesus with arms wide open. He is immediately expected to be the focal part of their attack while falling into line with the team’s transfer strategy that focuses on youth. The Gunners previously paid €35 million to get 22-year-old Fábio Vieira from Porto.

Gabriel Jesus played 28 games in Premier League this past season, scoring eight goals and providing nine assists. He has a total of 95 goals and 46 assists since arriving to City from Palmeiras in 2017.
