Arsenal named Unai Emery as the successor to long-serving manager Arsene Wenger.

Wenger stepped down from his role as manager of the club at the end of this season. He had been in charge for the past 22-years and his exit came amidst strong criticism from fans during recent years due to the club’s declining performances.

Emery led PSG to a domestic treble this season but the club decided against renewing his contract as he failed on one of his main objective which was to transform the French giants into a team which could challenge for the Champions League title.

“I am thrilled to be joining one of the great clubs in the game,” – Emery, 46, told Arsenal’s website. “Arsenal is known and loved throughout the world for its style of play, its commitment to young players, the fantastic stadium, the way the club is run. I’m very excited to be given the responsibility to start this important new chapter in Arsenal’s history.”
