On Thursday night, Arizona Cardinals selected Oklahoma’s quarterback Kyler Murray with the first overall pick in 2019 NFL Draft. Picking Murray means that Cardinals have taken QBs in the first round in two consecutive drafts, as they selected UCL’s Josh Rosen with the 10th overall pick in 2018.

Cardinals’ selection, which was widely rumored before the draft, will unite Murray with team’s new head coach Kliff Kingsbury, who unsuccessfully tried to recruit him at Texas Tech in 2015.

“This is where I wanted to be,” – said Murray on Thursday night. “I feel we can be very dangerous. He’s one of the best in the world at calling plays and (a top) offensive mind, so for me, I can’t wait to get up there with him. It’s been a long time coming, and I hope he feels the same.”

Kyler Murray started just one year in college and finished the 2018 season with 4,361 passing yards and 42 touchdowns. He also added 1,001 rushing yards and 12 rushing touchdowns in the process.

Murray was a highly regarded prospect coming into the draft thanks to his accuracy and ability to make plays with his feet.  There are concerns, however, whether he will manage to produce on the same level in the NFL considering he is only 5ft 10in tall.

With the second pick in this year’s draft, San Francisco 49ers took Ohio State’s defensive end Nick Bosa while New York Jets snatched Alabama’s defensive tackle Quinnen Williams with the third overall selection. Bosa and Williams were considered to be the best players available in this draft class.

Oakland Raiders decided to take Clemson’s defensive end Clelin Ferrell with the 4th overall pick, and followed that up by taking Alabama’s running back Josh Jacobs at 24 and Mississippi State’s safety Johnathan Abrams at 27.

Picking at No.6, New York Giants surprised the entire league and their fans by selecting Duke’s quarterback Daniel Jones, who was regarded as fourth best available QB. With the 17th pick, that they acquired from Cleveland Browns in Odell Beckham Jr. trade, Giants selected Clemson’s defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence and then traded into the first round once again to take Georgia’s cornerback Deandre Baker.
