Antonio Valencia Returns to Native Ecuador and Signs with LDU Quito

In past weeks, Antonio Valencia received a lot of interest from top European teams, who wanted to sign him after Manchester United declined to offer him a new contract. Valencia, however, decided to reject all of those advances in favor of a return to his native Ecuador.

The 11-times Ecuadorian Seria A champions LDU Quito announced on Friday that they had signed officially signed Valencia to a contract.

“One of the most outstanding players in the history of Ecuadorian football, Antonio Valencia, has joined the Whites,” – said the club in a statement.

Valencia played a total of 339 games in 10 seasons with Man Utd, while also serving as a captain his last year with the club. During his stay in Manchester, he managed to win nine trophies including two Premier League titles.

Valencia also played for Villarreal and Wigan earlier in his career. He made 96 appearances for Ecuador national team while scoring 11 goals.
