British World heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua is considering canceling his scheduled rematch with Dillian Whyte at Wembley Stadium on April 13th for a different bout in New York City, promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed on Friday.

“It looks like 13 April is unlikely,” Hearn said. “I think Dillian thinks, for a fight like that, he’d want a bit more. So, if we do the Whyte fight, I think we move it to May or June anyway. But the Jarrell Miller fight is very close for June at Madison Square Garden.”

Joshua, the Olympic Gold medal winner at the 2012 London Olympics in the super-heavyweight division, beat Whyte in 2015. There have been reports that the two would have a rematch this April but Whyte has severally said Joshua doesn’t want it to happen.

“They’ve had the date booked for ages and have known AJ was available since he beat Alexander Povetkin in September yet didn’t even make an initial offer,” Whyte once told the Daily Telegraph.

“We could have made this fight if Joshua really wanted it, but it has been clear to me all along that they’ve been focused on making the Jarrell Miller fight in New York City on DAZN (streaming network).

In the meantime, Joshua is eager to book his first bout outside the UK. Deontey Wilder was a great candidate, but with him facing Tyson Fury this year, Joshua looks primed to face New York-based Miller.
